  1. Diane cooks this one to the max! Look out for Diane's funky vocal on "Louisiana Sunday Afternoon". And that saxophone! "Teach Me Tonight" is romantic and dreamy. The perfect choice for the finale is "I'll Close My Eyes". This vocal is perfection! Nobody can quite match the vocal range and spectrum of moods that belong to Diane Schuur/5(26).

  3. Jan 01,  · This is an album I got back in 85, but I lost it 15 years ago. I am happy that Deedles is back in sale again. Deedles brings out the best from Diane Schuur and it is probably the best "soft Jazz" album I have in my collection. The highlite to me is Amazing grace, a brilliant version of this great song/5(16).
  4. Born in Tacoma, Washington, vocalist Diane Schuur has earned respect and garnered praise from such legendary musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie and B.B. King. Known for her three-and-a-half octave vocal range, Schuur’s remarkable career began at age nine with her first professional gigs, including those at the local Holiday Inn.
  5. Strangely, there is only one selection from her live-in-the-studio collaboration Diane Schuur & the Count Basie Orchestra, which is the best overall album from this period (it features guitarist Freddie Green's last recorded performance) -- while the other albums (Deedles, Schuur Thing, Timeless, Talkin' 'Bout You) get multiple representation/5(15).

  8. Teach me tonight Starting with the ABC of it Right down to the XYZ of it Help me solve the mystery of it Teach me tonight The sky's a blackboard high above you If a shooting star goes by I'll take that star and write I love you A thousand times across the sky One thing isn't very clear, my love Should the teacher stand so near, my love.
